Trump correctly portrayed the Iran intervention as a path to liberation from the Islamist’s repressive regime—a goal that resonates strongly with all those who value democracy and human rights. The initial days of the war have indeed demonstrated the effectiveness of decisive, targeted actions to weaken the regime while minimizing civilian suffering.
The risks which arise from the Israeli-American attack on Iran are enormous, but so are the opportunities. Much more is at stake than sustainably combating terrorism and establishing a stable security structure in the Middle East. The Iran war, like the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, is part of a global conflict whose true contours are obscured by the manipulated landscape of mainstream media.

In the three previous Middle East wars of 1956, 1967, and 1973, Israel's armed forces were able to quickly and decisively defeat the numerically superior forces of several Arab states. Within Venezuela, 70 to 80% of citizens believe they were cheated in the elections and support the opposition.

Over 90% of the approximately 8 million Venezuelans in exile who left the country during his rule welcomed the arrest with great joy. In the few months since October 7th, there has been far more reporting about the humanitarian situation of the people in the Gaza Strip than about the human suffering in the Ukrainian combat zones during roughly two years of war. The 150 to 200 soldiers who die there every day also attract little attention.
Since its founding in 1948, Israel has been subjected to false accusations and unfair resolutions by the United Nations. With this partiality and discrimination, the world organization is demonstrably violating its own charter principles and counteracting its peacemaking mission. The Israeli counter offensive in Gaza in retaliation for the October 7 Hamas attack is highly rectified - but doesn’t lead to the solution. As a phenome with psychological roots, terrorism cannot be ended by military means alone.
The magnitude of the number of victims in the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 tempts people to react with similar wrong decisions as after the New York attack on September 11, 2001. Terrorism as an expression of bitter rebellion should not be confused with regular war which can be ended by using military means.
